Julie & Julia

Julie & julia

Oh my gosh!  I completely forgot to write about this one.  I saw it when it was in the theatre and I am hoping it will be coming to video soon.

This movie was so sweet… I don’t really want to say cute but sweet.  Left me feeling the warm and fuzzies.

Meryl Streep as Julia Child was amazing!  Watching this I was not seeing Meryl, all I saw was Julia.  I’m old enough I do remember seeing some of Julia’s shows on PBS.   Amy Adams is hit or miss with me – she’s usually to sugary sweet and fake for my taste, but, I did like her in this movie.  She pulled it off her role well – she had to because of who in the opposite story line…

This is a feel good movie… another rental to add to your list!  I can’t wait to see it again.

The Proposal

Now on DVD – The Proposal.  It’s worth the rental in my feeble opinion.

It’s funny, quirky, cute, and fun.  Completely predictable because it follows Hollywood’s romantic comedy recipe… however, it is a fun trip to get there.  There are some things that happen that set it apart from the “typical” formula.  Location being part of it.  Can’t tell you where – that will give away some of the beginning and that coming out is funny.

If you looking for a funny and wouldn’t mind the “romantic” part – give a spin.  It’s just a rental right??  Odd how we rent things we dare see in the theatre – guess it’s not as much of a risk and if you don’t like it you can always turn it off.  So what do you have to loose?  A dollar?  How much are rentals these days?

Bill Engvall – Aged & Confused

Bill Engvall

I saw this guy last year in Eureka, CA.  He was sooo funny I that I was literally going to loose it.  I think I liked that he didn’t just come in and do his bit, he got out and about in “town” that day and brought some local flare to the show… If you get the opportunity to see him live --- do it – don’t think about just go!

However, until the opportunity roles around… he’s got several comedy albums/videos.  Take your pick on which you want but listen to or watch this guy!  He’s so funny… he goes on about his family and living in LA and I can totally relate… sometimes I relate to his wife and other times to him.

“What’s a corndog doin’ in the ocean?” – Dorkfish – listen to it!

Jeff Dunham – Spark of Insanity

Jeff Dunham I’ve been on a comedy jag here lately and thought I’d share a little.  Really hooked on this guy and the next I’m going to write about.  This show is hilarious… I must confess I baulked at watching the Jeff Dunham anything for quite a while.  I have a teenager and between him and his friends I had the whole thing memorized  before even seeing it.  Put me off of it for a while actually.

Then I started watching Netflix “play now” on my computer and this was the first thing I watched.  It’s the funniest thing I’ve seen since I saw Bill Engvall live in Eureka.

I’ve seen all 3 Jeff Dunham’s shows and this is my favorite.  If you start watching – you should make the effort to see all 3.  He’s hilarious. I don’t think I’ve seen a ventriloquist since I was a kid and he was doing a kids show… not the same level of funny.

Give it a whirl – I don’t think you’d be disappointed!
