Well... how do I start this one...If you are the type that is able to look at a book that a movie is based on and the movie itself as two separate entities... you can enjoy this movie. If you are the type that gets mad/frustrated when a movie is not the same as the book - do not bother spending your $8.00 on this movie. There are some key differences between the two and you will get frustrated. I have learned over the years that a movie is NEVER going to be exactly the same as the book and therefore try treat them as two different things. I'll admit I'm still a work in progress on this but I do try...
This story is one that I feel has been successfully modified. I haven't finished the book but got far enough to immediately notice the changes... but it worked. I was able to sit back and be entertained by the story that was presented and not be too distracted by the differences. There are some scenes that could be considered graphic or harsh... though the scenes are brief - they are there just the same. I would not advise taking children into this one or if your sensitive to torture/blood/branding...
I did enjoy seeing the places they went to, someday I'll get there to see them in person. The Pantheon, The Castle of Angels, The Vatican (though I'm told they were not given permission to film in the Vatican - it looked convincing to me), St Peters Square, and a tidbit or two of Rome. Being the little bit of Italian that I am... I figure I should some day get there.
Long and the short - I liked this one....
